SoHe 2023 - Fourth Meeting of the Italian Solar and Heliospheric Community
October 25th-27th 2023
Department of Physics & Astronomy
University of Florence, Arcetri (Florence), Italy
The Italian Solar and Heliospheric Community (SoHe) periodically organizes national conferences. Since the debut in Catania (September 2013), the following conferences were held in ASI headquarter in Rome (May 2016) and in Turin (October 2018). After the pandemic pause, we are happy to restart the series of conference at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, in Florence. The main purpose is to give an overview at the national level of the novelties and advances in reasearch related to solar physics, heliospheric physics, and space weather. PhD students and young researchers are particularly encouraged to participate and present their work, this conference being an occasion to introduce themselves to the Italian community and to have informal discussions with its members after years of videoconferences. The conference will have a duration of two days and a half, starting in the early afternoon, with invited and contributed talks, and, depending on attendance, a poster session. A social dinner is planned for thursday. The meeting will focus on the following topics:
Solar eruptions: observations and modelling of spicules, jets, filaments/prominence, CMEs;
Solar flares: radiation, particle acceleration, and SEP diffusion;
Solar atmosphere: magnetic field emergence and dynamics, convection, wave propagation, chromospheric and coronal heating;
Solar wind: heating and acceleration, identification of the sources, properties of the heliospheric solar wind;
Long and large-scale dynamics: solar cycle, corotating interaction regions, interplanetary shocks, solar irradiance.
Abstract submissions
We welcome oral and poster presentations of research contributions, click here to submit your abstract.
Special issue publication
Original papers based on the oral/poster presentations will be considered for publication as refereed articles in a special issue of Rendiconti Lincei (Springer).
Award
In honour of Prof. Lucio Paternò, the INAF – Astrophysical Observatory of Catania together with the organising committee will award a young student or early-career postdoc for the best oral presentation.
